“Twasula Wano” is Lusoga (Spoken in the Busoga Kingdom in Eastern Uganda) for “We stayed here” or “We lived here.” The original name for this blog was “Two Years in the Land of Beauty” the nickname for Uganda is “the Land of Beauty.” However, after I decided to continue my blog after finishing my service, I changed the name to “Twasula Wano.”

In the summer of 2015 my husband and I received our invitations to serve in Uganda with the Peace Corps. We arrived in Philadelphia in May of 2016 to begin our Peace Corps journey. We lived in Eastern and Central Uganda, where I served as a Health Educator and my husband as an Agribusiness Advisor.

To give a bit of background, I graduated from Beloit College in 2014′, and walked with my class in 2015. At Beloit, I studied Russian and Health & Society. Additionally, I volunteered an interned at a domestic violence center from 2012-2015. Then, at the beginning of 2015 I began working there as a Client Support Specialist and Statistician. I am deeply passionate about health and human rights, as well as Russian Literature…

I am sharing my thoughts and reflections during and after my service in this blog. I hope you enjoy the posts and pictures!

Also, here is some recommended reading and watching. Whether you are about to be a Peace Corps Volunteer yourself, or whether you’re just an avid reader. Here’s a list of just a few of the things I’ve read either prior to or during my service as a PCV that have been beneficial.
